美國勞工部週四公佈了截至10月31日當周美國初請失業金人數，公佈值高於預期，仍維持在高位，表明美國經濟因新冠疫情影響，勞動力市場復蘇之路仍很漫長，美國繼續出臺財政刺激方案預期增加，貨幣供給增加，市場選擇拋售美元轉而持有黃金。
美歐疫情感染人數持續激增，中東疫情仍然嚴峻，美國週四單日新增達到了創紀錄的逾10萬例，成為首個單日新增病例超過10萬的國家，這些都將拖累美歐經濟的復蘇，有進一步下滑的預期，黃金的避險屬性獲得提振。
美國約翰·霍普金斯大學統計資料顯示，美國週三新增新冠確診數超10萬，達到102831例，創歷史新高。而根據新冠跟蹤專案的資料，美國週三有16個州的新冠住院人數達到歷史最高水準，超過52000人因新冠住院。CNN指出，過去一周新增病例增長了21%，但新增測試只增長了4.5%，美國疫情仍面臨嚴峻考驗。
民主黨總統候選人拜登在贏得美國兩個關鍵州後預測將戰勝美國總統特朗普。而特朗普質疑美國大選的公信力，抱怨民調誇大了拜登在多個戰場州的領先地位。這場激烈的角逐目前還沒有結果。另外，當前的計票情況暗示，共和黨仍將掌控參議院，拜登支持的更大規模經濟刺激方案出臺可能會遇到阻礙。
今晚美國勞動統計局將公佈美國10月非農就業人口變動資料。根據調查，美國雇主10月雇用的員工數可能是五個月來最少，這是財政刺激措施結束和新冠疫情再起，正在削弱經濟復蘇勢頭最明顯的跡象。
分析師表示，“疫情仍使許多人無法去當地的餐館、酒吧和咖啡館，這繼續給小企業的就業資料帶來壓力。鑒於美國一半的就業崗位由員工人數不到500人的企業提供，加上政府出臺額外財政支援的可能性較低，未來幾個月，非農就業資料將面臨下行風險。”
