6月25日，現貨黃金受到一定承壓，雖然美國新增病例大幅增加，經濟走出低谷的所需時間更長，刺激避險買盤。但是貿易局勢讓美元持續當前的反彈趨勢，壓制金價上漲走勢。
總統特朗普一再否認疫情的嚴重性，但現在美國錄得疫情爆發以來次高的單日新增病例數，本週二(6月23日)新增病例超過35000人，僅次於4月24日創下的峰值36426例。歐盟甚至考慮禁止美國人入境。
芝加哥聯儲主席埃文斯週三表示，他預計美國經濟要到2022年底才能恢復到疫情危機前的產出水準，受疫情影響，部分經濟增長將永久喪失。
美聯儲本月早些時候暗示，將在數年內保持低利率、維持極度寬鬆的貨幣政策，以支持經濟增長。政策制定者預計，今年經濟將萎縮6.5%左右，年底失業率將達到9%。
美國在5月份的時候認為，疫情似乎已經得到了控制，許多州取消了出行和社交限制，導致疫情在鄉村和其他最初並未深度染疫的地區大面積擴散。
人們此前預期的V型經濟復蘇正處於危險之中，美國混亂的疫情應對策略不利於企業順暢地恢復生產。有關新冠疫情的大量負面消息導致風險資產遭到拋售，金融市況再次變得動盪。
在圍繞飛機補貼長達16年的爭端中，美國採取行動，繼續向歐盟施壓，威脅可能會改變對歐盟商品的關稅。而消息稱，世貿組織(WTO)是否允許歐盟同樣徵收關稅的決定日期已被推遲至今年秋季。
美國貿易代表辦公室在可能被徵收關稅的清單中增加了價值31億美元的歐洲產品——包括黑橄欖、啤酒和杜松子酒。該辦公室說，它可以加大力度，要求對以前公佈名單中的其他物品徵稅，或進一步提高現有關稅水準。
美國此舉旨在繼續向歐盟施壓，要求其達成解決方案，結束這場始於2004年的爭端。據熟悉相關程式的消息人士稱，雙方都在世界貿易組織取得了部分勝利，並表示有興趣解決此事，但都在等待WTO的最終裁決。
由於美國在大西洋兩岸貿易談判中居於優勢地位，美歐貿易關係惡化對歐元匯率構成重壓，儘管美國抗疫不力的消息充斥媒體，但美元指數仍延續上日大漲勢頭，也在一定程度上拖累了金價。
