9月28日，由于美元走软，而且风险相关领域的人气有所改善，欧元有所上涨。不过由于美国总统特朗普和民主党总统候选人拜登首次参加大选辩论，美国政局成为市场热门话题。投资者仍需警惕市场可能出现预期外状况。
在特朗普与拜登的首次总统大选辩论后，此后两位副总统候选人彭斯和哈里斯将在10月7日进行辩论，而总统候选人之间的第二、三场辩论将在10月15日和22日举行。
此外有关确认新的最高法院法官的进展也吸引市场注意力，据报道由SSRS民调公司为美国有线电视新闻网开展的最新民调显示，近六成美国人认为，应该由今年11月胜选的总统来提名人选，填补露丝·巴德·金斯伯格离世留下的最高法院大法官空位。
与此同时，有相当一部分公众(占38%)认为特朗普总统对于大法官的提名使最高法院变得更糟，而且大多数人(占54%)不赞成参议院修改规则，使得最高法院大法官的提名人选只需获得简单多数支持——而不是传统的60张赞成票——就可以进入投票表决环节。
报道称，总的来说有59%的受访者认为，应该由即将举行的总统大选的胜者来选择填补金斯伯格职位的人选。2016年3月的舆论则与之相反。当时有57%的受访者认为，应该由奥巴马总统而不是当年11月当选的总统来提名人选，填补安东宁·斯卡利亚去世留下的最高法院大法官空缺。在此次最新民调中，有41%的受访者认为，应该现在就由特朗普来提名这一职位的人选。
截至八月的五个月内，欧元兑美元自1.0636涨至1.2011，汇价大幅上涨，重新激起欧洲央行对通缩的担忧。欧洲央行管委维斯科周日表示，欧元汇率近期走强令人担忧，如果这将通货膨胀率进一步推离目标，欧洲央行将做出反应。
