12月13日，美国公布了市场重点关注的11月零售销售数据，数据不及市场预期，在一系列美国数据公布后，金价冲高后回落。虽然零售数据疲软，支撑金价，但目前较为乐观的贸易局势给金价带来了一定的压力。
具体数据显示，美国11月零售销售月率实际公布0.2%，预期0.5%，前值0.3%；美国10月核心零售销售月率实际公布0.1 %，预期0.4%，前值0.2%。
由于美国人削减开支，美国11月零售销售月率低于预期，核心零售销售月率仅有小幅增长，这可能让经济学家下调第四季度经济增速预期。这份报告与近期相当乐观的劳动力市场、楼市、贸易及制造业数据并不一致，后者暗示尽管面临贸易和全球增长放缓的不利影响，经济正适度增长。
美国消费者在假日购物季伊始就展现了较高的速度，受网购带动，零售销售额录得2013年以来最大增幅。从感恩节到“网络星期一”这五天的假日购物季，参与购物的美国消费者人数达近1.9亿人，比去年同期增长14%；人均消费支出361.9美元，比去年同期增长16%。
美国感恩节至新年之间传统购物季的商店销售额占全年销售额的三分之一，利润可达全年利润的40%。而各大零售商门店今年普遍存在“门可罗雀”的情况，线下销售额同比下滑6.2%；线上销售额虽然同比大涨19.6%，但销售额整体并未达到此前外界预期。
美国11月进口物价指数月率温和反弹，潜在趋势依然疲软，这与进口通胀压力减弱的情况相一致。本周公布的通胀情况喜忧参半，美国CPI稳步上涨，但PPI没有增长。
