3月22日，美元指数下跌，黄金的下跌空间有限，但美元避险地位已经获得新功能，因为土耳其忽然撤换央行行长让市场震惊，之后无论是黄金市场还是新兴市场，都暗流涌动，目前市场等待更多指引。
美元兑土耳其里拉一度狂涨逾17%至8.4707，逼近去年11月6日创下的纪录高位8.5793，因土耳其总统埃尔多安上周六(3月20日)解除阿巴尔央行行长职务，并任命Sahap Kavcioglu接替这一职位。
土耳其政府周一对于撤换央行行长一事作出解释。执政的正义与发展党(AK Party)副主席Nurettin Canikli表示，阿巴尔周末遭撤换的原因，在于未理性使用货币政策工具。Canikli补充道，这个举动并未与市场对抗，而是展现出政府对于有效使用工具的敏锐度。
在阿尔巴上任不到五个月的时间内，土耳其央行加息875个基点至19%，但埃尔多安坚决反对高利率，其最新的人事调整可能逆转阿巴尔采取的鹰派和正统举措，而且由于土耳其外汇储备已耗尽，将土耳其逐步推向国际收支危机。
分析师称，新的央行行长可能意味着应对通胀采取的鹰派和正统措施逆转，这可能导致市场持续动荡。布朗兄弟哈里曼的分析师在备忘录中说：“经过一系列激进加息恢复投资者的信心之后，土耳其又反胜为败了。”
分析师说：“土耳其当局将有两种选择，要么是承诺使用利率来稳定市场，要么是实施资本管制。鉴于埃尔多安总统采取越来越专制的态度，资本管制似乎是最可能的选择。”
美联储的核心任务是“促进充分就业+维持物价稳定”，但是主席鲍威尔最近的看法似乎令人惊讶：他并不在乎人们是否为物资支付更高的价格，取而代之的是，将更多的注意力放在围绕通胀预期，而不是物价的实际走向上。
新兴经济体中央银行因长期美债收益率快速上涨而被迫加息，但抬升国内借贷成本在政治上面临相当的困难，放任汇率走弱容易多了。土耳其央行试图做到收紧银根，但鉴于经济增长疲软，反对声浪很大。
因此，美国的财政刺激措施以及由此带来的长债收益率急剧上升对新兴市场构成了威胁，正在使新兴市场失去平衡。土耳其的情况仍可能蔓延影响到其他新兴经济体，现在似乎是时候重新考虑投资策略——撤除高收益新兴市场货币，买入避险美元。
